HLAC is committed to providing redemptive justice to the poor, vulnerable and victims. With the help of our parish and local churches, we have provided pro bono or low-cost legal services to over 1,500 people since 2015. Similar to preparedness and recovery after a hurricane, earthquake or wildfire, individuals may face legal issues related to health care, economic stability, safe and healthy housing, public services, employment, environmental justice, domestic violence, and discrimination due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lone Star Legal Aid will continue to work on critical issues on behalf of our client community, through our individual client representation and systemic advocacy. Domestic Violence Assistance (AVDA) – Services include victim advocacy, victim safety, legal advocacy, counselling, stroke intervention, etc. Client applications are reviewed based on financial eligibility and other requirements. Houston Volunteer Lawyers has a variety of pro bono cases available to volunteers in several practice areas. Except for special programs, clients must generally be equal to or less than 125% of the federal poverty guidelines. This is measured by your household`s gross monthly income relative to the size of your household.
