We are all being affected by this Worldwide emergency from the Coronavirus. Our compassion and strength are being tested and will continue to be tested for several months. Experts are advising us to avoid gatherings and to avoid close contact with others. The ECA will comply.
The ECA has decided to postpone our very popular Public Officials Night until the crisis is managed enough for us to congregate again. As we all comply with the advice of the experts, we should see the spread of the virus slow down.
The ECA has also cancelled our Board Meeting scheduled for tomorrow. We have also cancelled our Exec Meeting for tomorrow and two upcoming safety classes. At this time, we have no plans to cancel our Car Show scheduled for June 21, 2020. We also have no current plans to cancel our Golf Tournament scheduled for July 31, 2020.
As I understand the operations of the Counties and the Cities, construction will continue. Any “over the counter” interaction will be suspended but for the time being, inspections and permits will continue. That is good news for our industry. We actually are in much better shape than most other industries we are all reading and hearing about. Let’s keep our fingers crossed and do what we need to do with proper distancing from one another, build up your immune system, and wash wash wash your hands.
Mary and I and President Dave will continue to monitor all news and actions that affect our businesses and we will continue to provide news to you as it becomes clear to us. This may mean more frequent Newsletters but also more intermittent. In other words, they may not come every Thursday morning for the next few weeks.
That’s All Folks
John

On another issue, there have been some more “phishing” efforts by some scammers that are sending out fake requests for donations. Mary is addressing this issue below in a more detailed memo to you. From me, I say be on guard and if it looks funny, do not respond to it.
Unfortunately ECA has again, been a victim of phishing. What is recommended is to verify who is sending you an email especially when receiving a request for money or gift cards. Asking for gift cards seems to be their favorite scam.
I have looked into what we can do and unfortunately there is not much except to inform our members to be vigilant on verifying where the email is coming from. I am also taking off all emails from our website in the membership directory. We will update our website so that when someone would like to email a member they do so without seeing our members email.
I am so sorry for this inconvenience.
The only emails you will receive from ECA are: john@nceca.org, mary@nceca.org and cheryl.long@sonic.net.
